With spring weather on the horizon, we always look for ways to get outside. Living in a town as beautiful as Summerville means there are ample opportunities to find a great spot. Trying new ways to get them outside can be fun if you have furry friends in your family. Finding local dog parks is one of our favorite ways to get our dogs moving. Whether you go alone or meet some other friends, it gets you outside while giving your dog a chance to run around.
Through finding the ideal homes for our clients, the Martin Freeman Group has gotten to really get to know Summerville. That is why we are here to share our four favorite dog parks to try out this spring and summer! Your dog will surely be glad you found us.
Ashley River Dog Park
This beautiful park is located near the best view of the Ashley River off Bacon’s Bridge Road. While there is the dog park, there are also other amenities for you. It is only $2 for entry to the entire park. There are even separate dog parks for small and large dogs to ensure you can keep your furry friend safe. Even if your family gets tired of the dog park, there is a riverside walking trail, playground, event lawn, and a splash pad for you to explore.
James Island County Park
While James Island County Park is a little bit further to travel, it is well worth it. There are acres for your dog to run off-leash with the same focus on different areas for small and large dogs. There is even a large lake for your dog to swim in! The hotter days make it the perfect way for the dogs to cool down. When they’re done, a dog washing area ensures they make it to the car cleaner than when they even arrived. For your comfort, picnic tables and restroom facilities are also located around the dog parks. The rules of the park are located on their website for further information.
Mixson Avenue Dog Park
Better known as the “Bark Park,” this dog park is in North Charleston, near the Summerville area. This is a large fenced-in area with activities for your dog to enjoy. There is a pet wash station that allows you to leave with a clean dog. There are even hoops for your dog to practice their jumping skills all throughout the dog parks. It is a great way to give your dog a new friend!
Wassamassaw Community Park
Located right here in the Summerville community, Wassamassaw Community Park is another great option for you and your dog. Alongside the dog park, there is even public Wi-Fi for you to utilize during your visit. The playground, walking trail, and picnic shelters allow for your trip to be a day full of fun activities. Your dog can play in an enclosed space not far from home. Looking for a way to plan an event with friends? Everyone can bring their dogs and have a picnic after they have had a chance to tire themselves out. Dog parks are a great opportunity for this.
