What to Look Forward to in the Summerville Area This Month

With Summerville’s deep-rooted history, natural beauty, and busy social calendar, there’s no surprise that October of 2021 is set to be a busy month. Here are some of the events we’re looking forward to this month in the Summerville area.

Oktoberfest at Frothy Beard

Calling all beer and music lovers! Ever since Frothy Beard opened its location on Main Street, Summerville residents have been able to enjoy all of the benefits of this beloved brewery. Not only have the team at Frothy Beard brought their famous brews to the Summerville area, they’re also bringing the fun with their Oktoberfest celebration on October 8th. This event will feature craft beer and live music by the Charleston Symphony Polka Band.

The Flowertown Festival

One of Summerville’s most sought-after events is the annual Flowertown Festival, one of the southeast’s largest arts and crafts festivals. The Flowertown Festival is the YMCA’s fundraiser founded in 1972 to support health and wellness programs at the Y. This event features food trucks, a farmer’s market, and activities for children in addition to the 200+ jury-selected artists who will have their work displayed and available for purchase. The Festival runs from Friday, October 8th to Sunday, October 10th, so mark your calendars!

The Coastal Carolina Fair

Running from October 28th to November 5th, the Coastal Carolina Fair is back and featuring children’s activities, music, rides, entertainment, and more. Located on the fairgrounds in Ladson, this event is just a short drive away from Summerville.

What to Look Forward to in the Summerville Area This Year

While October may be a fun and busy month, there are larger projects in the works that we get to look forward to beyond the fall season. Here are some of the new things coming to the Summerville area that we are so excited about!

Nexton’s Upcoming Pickle Bar

An upcoming Pickle Bar has been a topic of conversation for locals in the Summerville area. This new entertainment concept is just one of the many exciting developments coming to the Nexton community in the fall of 2022. This unique concept combines a pickleball court with a southern-style restaurant and bar.

The Midtown Club

Another exciting spot to look forward to in Nexton is the Midtown Club. This upcoming amenity is a fresh take on the “neighborhood pool and clubhouse” concept but offers more than what you’ve grown accustomed to. The Midtown Club is set to include a “Living Room,” a fitness studio, and an event lawn in addition to a resort-style pool. This 8,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2022.

Updates to Saul Alexander Playground

For those yearning for more time spent outside, you’ll be excited to hear about the renovations coming to the Saul Alexander Playground. Summerville is devoting more than $150,000 in renovations to revamp this historic park, making it more handicap accessible and an overall more inviting area for the Summerville community.
